Summer news update from Colin

Colin Bönighausen returned to the racetrack to visit his team-mates at the Nürburgring, despite being temporarily out of action. Just over a month after his workplace accident, the German racing driver is making a good recovery.

The 21-year-old says, “Fortunately, things are getting better. I still can’t do any more than I could at the start, but I’m a bit more mobile.” His injured leg is no longer swollen and he is able to keep reducing his painkiller dosage. During physiotherapy, the muscles around the injury are being treated as effectively as possible. At home, Colin is doing exercises to maintain his fitness level and prepare for the next races.
After all, the goal is quite clearly to get back in the race car as soon as possible. Colin will soon be testing the limits of what‘s possible in the racing simulator for the first time. “The next ADAC GT Masters race is at the Salzburgring in early September. There’s a test a week before that, and I’m absolutely determined to be there!”

Colin was also at the Nürburgring race in July, cheering on his razoon – more than racing team-mates. “Of course, it wasn’t great sitting there and not being able to drive. But I was delighted to see my mechanics and the team again, and I was keeping my fingers crossed for Leo Pichler and my stand-in driver, Alexander Tauscher.” Colin is also grateful for the support of his partners and friends during this time. “It makes me even more motivated to come back stronger!” The next race for the ADAC GT Masters: Salzburgring (Austria), 4–6 September.
