The new season of the ADAC GT Masters kicks off next weekend at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. Making his debut is rising star <\/strong>Colin B\u00f6nighausen. The racing driver from Lower Saxony impressed by setting the second-fastest time in the official tests.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Colin will be driving the number 41 car for the razoon \u2013 more than racing team in his debut season in the ADAC GT Masters, aiming to compete at the front of the field. He will share the red and white Porsche 911 GT3 R with Leo Pichler, who is 24 years old and comes from Austria. \u201cI get on really well with Leo, and he brings valuable experience to the team.\u201d The pair will be competing against 26 other drivers from 15 different countries. B\u00f6nighausen on the competition: \u201aThe ADAC GT Masters has never been so international, and the quality of the starting grid is immense. It\u2019s hard to predict who will be at the front, as nobody knows how much weight each driver had in their car during testing,\u201d said the 21-year-old.<\/p>\n

During last week\u2019s official test sessions at the Red Bull Ring, newcomer B\u00f6nighausen made an immediate impression, setting the second fastest lap time overall, just 0.103 seconds behind BMW driver Sandro Holzem. \u201cThat was a brilliant debut for the team. I completed around 50 laps and learnt a great deal more about the car.\u201d His teammate Pichler was close behind. The technology in the GT3 is significantly more complex than that in the Cup version of the Porsche 911, with which B\u00f6nighausen is familiar: \u201cYou can make fine adjustments in the car for ABS, traction control and, since this year, also for the engine brake. Over the course of a stint, you adapt the car to tyre wear and other factors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Christoph Huber, team manager of razoon \u2013 more than racing, has a clear goal: \u201cWe definitely want to finish on the podium and, if possible, fight for the championship title until the very end, although everything would have to fall into place for that to happen. We\u2019ll give it our best shot!\u201d On the Thursday before the first race weekend, the team will practise the crucial pit stops and driver changes during another test session. \u201cThe aim here is to build up a routine,\u201d says Colin, who is looking forward to his debut with his usual coolness.<\/p>\n

The six race weekends of the 2026 season are split into sprint events at the Red Bull Ring, Zandvoort, N\u00fcrburgring and Hockenheimring, and endurance events at the DEKRA Lausitzring and Salzburgring. German TV channel Sport1 will broadcast the Sunday races live, showing a short highlights summary of the Saturday race beforehand. All races will also be streamed live on sport1.de, Joyn, ServusTV On, and YouTube.com\/adacmotorsports. These broadcasts will be available live and on demand in more than 150 territories worldwide, which further underlines the prestige of the world\u2018s longest-running GT3 racing series.<\/p>\n
