Following his debut at Spa, he will soon be back in a race car for the 24 Hours of Dubai.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The young German driver took part in his first endurance race at the 12 Hours of Spa. Driving a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup for the Dutch team Bas Koeten Racing, the native of Isernhagen performed remarkably well alongside experienced endurance drivers and Cup specialists such as Harry King. During his two stints, the rookie achieved lap times comparable to those of the top drivers. B\u00f6nighausen demonstrated exceptional determination in the initial stages, working his way up from 12th on the grid. \u201cThe start was almost as close as in the Carrera Cup sprint races,\u201d laughs Colin. \u201cAll in all, it was a really good debut \u2013 I particularly enjoyed the final stint at night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although B\u00f6nighausen had competed in night races in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain before, it had never been this dark: \u201cThere are no floodlights at Spa; we only had the headlights on our cars, which made it really special.\u201d Despite their fast pace, B\u00f6nighausen and his international teammates Pedro Torres, Marco Cirone and Jimmy Llibre were not rewarded. \u201cAn engine problem in the last third of the race cost us several laps. In the end, things went well again, but we couldn&#8217;t make up the gap.\u201d Nevertheless, the 20-year-old has taken a liking to endurance racing: \u201cI thought it was really cool, and I&#8217;m looking forward to competing again soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The next major highlight in Colin&#8217;s young racing career will be his participation in the 24-hour classic at the Dubai Autodrome on 17 and 18 January 2026. In the long term, B\u00f6nighausen and his team are aiming to compete in a full season of an established GT racing series in 2026 \u2013 more details will be announced in autumn or winter. Away from the racetrack, things are also going well for the affable Lower Saxony native. He has recently moved into his first flat and has also become a shareholder in the family business. \u201cAt the moment, I&#8217;m pretty busy at work.
