This coming weekend, racing driver Colin B\u00f6nighausen will have a challenging schedule ahead, as he will be competing in both the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland (PCCD) and the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux (PCCB) on the same venue.<\/strong><\/p>\n

No less than three practice sessions, two qualifying sessions and four races is what Colin B\u00f6nighausen has in his schedule for next weekend. The reason for the dual programme is a simple one, as the 20-year-old explains: \u201cWe can see that most of my rivals in the German Carrera Cup are also competing in other championships such as the Supercup at the same time. As a result, they spend a lot of time in the car and therefore have a significant advantage in terms of experience.\u201d To shorten this gap, B\u00f6nighausen is taking the risk of a spectacular double start this weekend. He mastered this challenge last year with flying colours and a podium finish. \u201cThe schedule is tight, but doable. Apart from the Friday evening practice sessions, the PCCD and PCCB sessions are not back-to-back this year, which helps us,\u201d says the Proton Huber Competition driver.<\/p>\n

Colin shortened the month-long racing break after Spa with taxi rides at the Salzburgring. As part of the Motortag event, Colin was driving partners and sponsors around the traditional Austrian circuit last weekend: \u201cThere was quite a lot of traffic on the race track. I had to slalom through all the slower vehicles. But it looks like my passengers enjoyed it even more when we were all overtaking.\u201d Colin\u2018s original 911 GT3 Cup Porsche was used, which was equipped with an additional seat. Straight after the taxi drives, the car was transported to Zandvoort by the Proton Huber Competition team.<\/p>\n

After Imola in Italy and Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland stays on a Formula 1 circuit for the third race weekend of the season. The 4.259-kilometre circuit has special challenges in store, such as the two banked turns. In other places, the drivers can barely see the course of the track from the cockpit due to its crests and dips. In addition, the sea breeze repeatedly blows sand onto the track, creating unpredictable grip conditions at times.<\/p>\n

Zandvoort will be the first time this year that the highly competitive one-make cup will be running with the DTM. B\u00f6nighausen has big plans for races 5 and 6 of the season: \u201cZandvoort is one of the most challenging tracks on the calendar. The combination of fast corners, tight passages and the notorious dune sand makes every race special, I\u2018m looking forward to it!\u201d<\/p>\n

All races with Colin will be broadcast live and for free on the internet. The TV channel ProSieben will broadcast both PCCD races live on the online portal \u201cran racing\u201d and will also broadcast a highlight show on free-to-air TV. In addition, ntv, auto motor und sport TV and Motorvision will also feature the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland in their own magazine programmes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
